At the age of 26, Cheryl Strayed (Reese Witherspoon) decides to hike more than a thousand miles of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) alone as a way to recovered from drug abuse, divorce and her mother’s death. She despite being a novice backpacker with no phone, no credit cards, very little of cash and a heavy backpack, Strayed survived.
The movie ‘Wild’ is talking and writing about a true story from Cheryl Strayed (picture below).
In the movie you can see the frequent flashbacks to earlier of her life, featuring herself as a child, teenager and young adult.
Especially her mothers (Bobbi) and husband (Jonathan).
Laura Dern played the role of Bobbi, mother of Cheryl.
When Cheryl started the trip, it’s quite pity and funny! Having some trouble with camping and food.
Day of the days, Cheryl met a new friends and think more positively!
The movie does offer various subject to parents to discuss with their elder teen. The importance of relationship, unhealthy behaviour, and the life changing power of her entire trip. It’s really inspired and motivated me on my life. After the movie, the quotes in the movie still in my mind.
Here are some of my favourite quotes:
“I was amazed that what I needed to survive could be carried on my back. And, most surprising of all, that I could carry it.” ― Cheryl Strayed
“In my perception, the world wasn’t a graph or formula or an equation. It was a story.” ― Cheryl Strayed
“We aren’t poor,” my mother said, again and again. “Because we’re rich in love.” ― Cheryl Strayed
“I think it’s neat you do what you want. Not enough chicks do that, if you ask me–just tell society and their expectations to go fuck themselves. If more women did that, we’d be better off.” ― Cheryl Strayed
“Here’s some questions I’ve been asking myself. What if I forgive myself? What if I was sorry? What if I could go back in time? I wouldn’t do a single thing differently. What if all those things I did were the things that got me here?” ― Cheryl Strayed
By the way, I’m going to check the hiking boots in the movie! Their service it isn’t so good? haha
